Happy Easter from Trustee Lucia DiCicco

Lucia DiCicco

Happy Easter to all our readers! As the blooms of spring fill our gardens with color and the days grow warmer, we gather with friends and family to celebrate Easter, a time of renewal, hope, and joy. This cherished holiday, marked by the delightful sight of Easter eggs and the warmth of shared meals, carries significance that resonates deeply within the hearts of many around the globe. It’s a season that reminds us of the power of faith, the promise of renewal, and the endless capacity for rebirth that defines the human spirit.

For the religious faithful, Easter holds a special place as it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, as described in the New Testament of the Bible. This miraculous event is the cornerstone of Christian faith, symbolizing the ultimate victory over sin and death and offering believers the promise of eternal life. The purpose of Easter extends beyond the celebration of Christ's resurrection; it is a time for Christians to reflect on the depth of God's love for humanity, demonstrated through the sacrifice of His only Son for the salvation of all. It is a season of gratitude, reflection, and profound joy, as believers around the world participate in church services, reenactments of the Passion of Christ, and community gatherings that underscore the unifying message of Easter: hope and new beginnings.

Amidst these celebrations, it’s essential to recognize the broader context in which Easter and other religious observances take place today, particularly in the United States. As a Republican, I view religious freedom as a fundamental principle that stands at the heart of American values. I am grounded in the belief that every individual should have the liberty to practice their faith openly, without fear of persecution or constraint. We as Republicans must advocate for policies that protect these freedoms and argue for a vibrant, diverse society that can only be achieved when all faiths are given the space to flourish. This commitment to religious liberty is essential for both the personal fulfillment of the faithful but as the cornerstone of a healthy and democratic society.

As we celebrate this Easter, let us cherish the freedoms that allow us to observe our traditions and beliefs openly. Let's also remember the spirit of unity and peace that Easter embodies, which transcends individual faiths and brings us together as a community. May this Easter bring you and your loved ones joy, peace, and renewal. Happy Easter!
